Christian School Teacher Charged for "Sexual Conduct" with Student

A 23-year-old Christian school teacher has a warrant out for her arrest after evidence revealed that she was sexually abusing a 17-year-old female student over the course of several months.

Torrie Lemon – a graduate of Maranatha Baptist University – was a kindergarten teacher at Colonial Christian School in Indianapolis where she met her alleged victim.

Abuse Exposed

The IndyStar reported that, “a friend of the female student was going through the student's phone when they found a video of Lemon and the student kissing in a hidden folder on the device. When the friend saw the video, they immediately informed a male teacher of the video. Upon learning of this information, the male teacher confiscated the student's phone, informed the student's parents of the situation, dismissed Lemon from the school trip, and filed a report with the Indiana Department of Child Services and a South Carolina police department, according to court records.”¹

Lemon was terminated from her position, and during her exit interview she told the principal that she had an “inappropriate relationship with a student and said that ‘it started with hugs, then longer hugs, then kissing, and then sexual acts.’

IMPD digital forensics recovered a few text messages from Lemon’s device sent back and forth between her and her victim. They read things like, "thank you for an amazing night and morning," and "I love you more than I can describe."²

Torrie Lemon is currently facing two felony charges:

• 35-42-4-7(p)/F5: Child Seduction-Child care worker in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct w/c

• 35-42-4-7(p)/F6: Child Seduction-Child care worker engages in fondling or touching w/child 16-17 yrs

Colonial Christian School sent the following statement, on behalf of Principal Andrew Fry, to 13News:

"Colonial Christian School became aware of an allegation against a teacher on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Upon learning of this allegation, we took immediate action, placed the teacher on leave, and contacted the Indiana Department of Child Services and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The teacher's employment was terminated.

We are committed to the safety and well-being of every student, and we are cooperating fully with the authorities. Because this is an ongoing investigation, we will refrain from further discussing the allegation. However, we encourage parents and students to notify us of any concerns."

Past Controversy

Colonial Christian School is a ministry of Colonial Hills Baptist Church, pastored by Dr. Charles Phelps.

Phelps, himself, was at the center of controversy in 2011, when he shamed a then-teenage rape victim named Tina Anderson.

As ABC reported, “Anderson was only 16 when she said she was forced to stand terrified before her entire church congregation to confess her ‘sin’ - she had become pregnant. She says she wasn't allowed to tell the group that the pregnancy was the result of being allegedly raped by a fellow congregant, a man twice her age.”³

In court, a prosecutor asked Phelps a hypothetical question.

Prosecutor: “Let’s say that a 14-year-old girl who goes to your school gets kidnapped by a guy who rapes her then beats her up and leaves her out in the woods. She comes to you and tells she is pregnant. Would you expel her from your school?”

Phelps: “It would depend on the situation. I don’t know.”⁴
